Eid Mubarak means “blessed Eid,” and it is the greeting Muslims across the UK share when Ramadan ends. Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027, depending on the moon sighting. Below you will find short Eid Mubarak wishes, messages for family, friends and colleagues, the Sunnah greeting of the Companions, and greetings in the languages spoken in British Muslim homes.
From Bradford to Birmingham, Eid morning fills phones with messages long before the prayer begins. Use these wishes as they are, or change a few words to make them your own.
Eid Mubarak is an Arabic phrase that means “blessed celebration” or “blessed Eid.” Eid means a festival or a day that returns each year, and Mubarak means blessed. Saying it is a short prayer that Allah places barakah in the other person’s day.
You can say Eid Mubarak on Eid al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan and on Eid al-Adha during Hajj. Many families in the UK also start sending wishes on the night before Eid, known as chaand raat, once the moon is announced.
The simplest reply is “Eid Mubarak to you too.” In many South Asian families in the UK, people reply with “Khair Mubarak,” which means “goodness and blessings to you too.” In Arabic, you can reply with “Allahu yubarik fik,” meaning “May Allah bless you.” Any warm reply is fine.
The greeting used by the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ on Eid was:
تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنَّا وَمِنْكُمْ
Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum
“May Allah accept from us and from you.”
Jubayr ibn Nufayr reported that when the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met on the day of Eid, they would say this to one another. Ibn Hajar graded the report hasan in Fath al-Bari.
After a month of fasting, prayer and charity, the greatest hope of a believer is that Allah accepts it. This greeting asks for that acceptance for both of you. A beautiful way to greet someone is to combine both: “Eid Mubarak. Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum.

Not everyone feels joy on Eid. Some are grieving, some are alone, and some have family in places of war or hardship. A gentle message can mean a great deal:
The Prophet ﷺ said: “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 13, Sahih Muslim 45) Reaching out to someone who is struggling on Eid is part of that love.
Eid wishes are one way to share happiness. Zakat al-Fitr is another, and it is obligatory. Every Muslim pays it before the Eid prayer so that families in need can celebrate too. The Prophet ﷺ made it “a purification for the fasting person from idle talk and obscene speech, and as food for the poor.” (Sunan Abi Dawud 1609, graded hasan)
