Education Is the One Thing They Cannot Bomb, Flood, or Take Away

In slums, in rubble, in refugee camps that were never meant to last this long, children are waking up with nowhere to go. No school. No teacher. No one has told them that their future still exists.

The child who wakes up for work instead of school

In the slums of Gujarat, a girl wakes up before sunrise. Not for school, for work. Because her family needs what she can earn more than what she can learn. Nobody has told her she is worth educating. Nobody has shown her what school looks like from the inside.

That is the child Human Concern UK’s School on Wheels bus pulls up for every morning.

She is not alone. Across India, Pakistan, Gaza, and beyond, there are 10,000 individuals just like her, in conflict zones, in displacement camps, in communities where school is a privilege nobody can afford. Some of them have never held a pencil. Some of them have not been in a classroom since the bombs started falling. Some of them have a disability that the world has decided makes them uneducable.

Human Concern UK disagrees.

"Read. In the name of your Lord who created."

- Qur'an 96:1

The first word revealed to the Prophet ﷺ was not ‘pray’ or ‘fight’ or ‘survive.’ It was ‘read.’ Education is not a Western value that we are importing into these communities. It is an Islamic obligation, and denying a child access to it is a form of harm we can choose to stop.

OUR REACH IN 2026

8 programmes. 4 countries. 10,000 individuals who are already showing up.

These are not pilot projects or proposals. They are active programmes with students enrolled, teachers paid, and doors open right now. Here is the scale of what your donation joins:

individuals reached across all eight active education programmes
0 +
programmes operating simultaneously across four countries
0
countries: India, Pakistan, Gaza, and beyond
0
deaf students receiving specialised education in Pakistan Sign Language
0
children in Gaza receiving learning and psychosocial support through Makani centres
0
students who will return to school once six damaged schools are rebuilt
0
Gazan medical students receiving emergency scholarship support
0

Every one of those numbers is a child who decided to show up, or a medical student who decided to stay, despite everything working against them. Your donation is what makes that decision survivable.

WHERE WE WORK

From a bus in Gujarat to a clinic in Gaza, here is where your money goes

HCI’s approach to health is built on three principles that set us apart from short-term medical missions and one-off interventions. We do not just treat, we build, we train, and we stay.

🇮🇳 School on Wheels

Gujarat, India  ·  90 students

In two of Gujarat’s most underserved slum communities, Human Concern UK’s mobile classroom bus delivers daily education in Math, English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Environmental Studies across two shifts, morning and evening, so no child is excluded by a parent’s work schedule. Every child receives a healthy snack, computer literacy training, hygiene education, and monthly assessments. For most of these children, this bus is their only experience of school.

🇵🇰 Empowering Deaf Kids to Learn

Rashidabad, Hyderabad & Sukkur, Pakistan  ·  185 students

185 deaf students are sponsored across three scholastic years through Human Concern UK’s partnership with the Family Educational Services Foundation. They receive tuition, transportation, lunch, uniforms, and academic supplies, alongside instruction in Pakistan Sign Language, vocational training, and life skills education. For these children, the barriers to education are not just financial. Human Concern UK is removing every single one.

🇵🇰 HOPE Complex - Akora Khattak

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan  ·  800 students

In a district hosting thousands of Afghan refugees alongside local Pakistani families, Human Concern UK supports secondary and higher secondary education for 800 students,  regardless of where they were born. An IT lab for senior students, teacher capacity building, and community engagement programmes are all part of a programme designed to last beyond our involvement.

🇵🇰 HOPE Complex Schools - Azad Kashmir

Pakistan  ·  1,067 students

Across certain school locations in Azad Kashmir, Human Concern UK supports 1,067 students through academic programming, teacher training, infrastructure improvement, and student scholarships. These are schools in communities that receive very little attention, and whose children are falling behind as a result.

🇵🇸 Makani Learning Centres

Gaza Strip, Palestine  ·  1,554 students

In partnership with UNICEF Canada, Human Concern UK funds Makani community and learning centres in Gaza – 12 classrooms providing academic learning, social-emotional support, arts, drama, sports, and psychosocial care for children who have lived through years of active conflict. These are not remedial classes. They are an attempt to restore childhood to children who have had it taken from them.

🇵🇸 Educational Centre for Children

Khanyounis, Gaza Strip, Palestine  ·  270 students

For children in Khan Younis, one of the most devastated areas of Gaza, Human Concern UK funds remedial classes in Arabic, Maths, Science, and English, alongside psychosocial support sessions, recreational activities, and quarterly caregiver engagement meetings. This programme starts in July 2026 and reaches children who have missed years of schooling.

🇵🇸 Scholarship Support for Medical Students

Gaza Strip, Palestine  ·  230 medical students

230 medical students are still studying medicine in Gaza despite the ongoing crisis. Human Concern UK is providing one-time emergency scholarship support to ensure they can continue. A medical student who becomes a doctor and stays in Gaza is a lifeline for thousands of patients. This is education and healthcare intersecting at the most critical possible moment.

🇸🇾 Rehabilitation of Schools

 5,400 students

Six schools need to be rebuilt before 5,400 children can return to class. Human Concern UK is overseeing engineering verification, contractor selection, rehabilitation works, and quality assurance, with one school already underway and five in progress. When the work is done, the schools are handed to local education authorities. This is the definition of leaving something behind.

GIVE EDUCATION

Give Education

Sponsor One Child

Cover one child’s monthly education: classes, supplies, snacks, teacher salaries, and life skills. One year of your giving is one year of school for a child who had none.

Sponsor Two Children

Double the impact. Two children educated every month. One year of your giving is two children who finished a full year of school because you decided to give.

Support a Gazan Medical Student

230 medical students in Gaza continue their studies under conditions that would break most people. Your monthly sponsorship helps cover their tuition and living expenses, ensuring they can continue their education.

Support Two Gazan Medical Students

Help keep two future doctors on track. In a healthcare system that has nearly collapsed, every medical student who completes their training and remains in Gaza represents hope for thousands of patients.

When you sponsor a child’s education through Human Concern UK, you are not just paying a school fee. You are fulfilling a prophetic instruction. You are removing a barrier that should never have existed. You are investing in a future that belongs to the whole community, not just the families who could afford it.

"When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him."

- Sahih Muslim

Knowledge that benefits others is one of three things that outlives us. Funding education is not just Sadaqah, it is Sadaqah Jariyah. The child you educate today may teach ten more tomorrow. The medical student you support today may save a thousand lives over a career.

That reward does not expire.

WHY GIVE THROUGH Human Concern UK

46 years of doing this. We know how.

Human Concern UK has been funding education programmes in the world’s most difficult places since before most of our donors were born. We do not set up programmes for press releases and leave. We partner with organisations already embedded in the communities we serve, and we stay accountable to both our donors and our beneficiaries.

Every programme in this campaign has a named partner, a verified student count, a monthly cost breakdown, and a timeline. We know exactly what we are funding and why.
