Gaza Emergency Support

Last Ramadan, in Gaza alone, 1,000 orphaned children and 2,577 family members received critical support, alongside psychosocial activities designed to strengthen well-being, connection, and resilience.

Why Sponsor a Child This Ramadan

Ramadan is a time to pause, reflect, and open our hearts to those who need us most. While many of us break our fast with family, millions of children continue to face uncertainty around safety, care, and stability. Sponsoring a child this Ramadan is a simple way to turn compassion into ongoing support that lasts far beyond the month.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ reminded us of the special place held by those who care for vulnerable children.

He said:
“I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like this in Paradise,”
and he ﷺ held his index and middle fingers together.
(Sahih al-Bukhari)

When you sponsor a child, you commit to consistent care and support month after month. You help put food on the table, support their well-being, and remind them that they are not forgotten.

Why Child Sponsorship Matters

  • Provides consistent monthly support tailored to children’s needs
  • Helps families meet essential needs for daily living and stability
  • Supports emotional well-being through community care and guidance
  • Strengthens long-term stability for children and their households

This Ramadan, help ensure a child feels supported every day, not just for a moment.

Frequently Asked Questions

We work closely with our local teams and community partners to identify children who are most in need of support. Sponsorship is prioritised based on the following criteria:

  • The child is of school-going age
  • The child comes from a low-income household
  • The child is enrolled in school, unless a disability prevents attendance
  • The child is not receiving support from another organisation

Preference may be given to girls, who in many communities face greater barriers to education and protection.

We prioritise orphaned and vulnerable children, including those living in informal settlements or unsafe conditions, those engaged in child labour, and those at heightened risk of exploitation, trafficking, or domestic violence.

If a sponsorship is discontinued, we work to ensure the child continues receiving support by seeking a new sponsor as quickly as possible. Our priority is to minimise disruption and protect the child’s well-being and access to essential services.

Sponsorship contributions are based on the average cost of living in the child’s community. This support helps cover daily necessities such as food, clothing, healthcare, education, and safe living conditions.

Yes. Sponsors may contribute towards special gifts, including Eid gifts, to help their sponsored child celebrate important occasions.

To protect the child’s privacy and safety, all gifts and correspondence must be arranged through us. Our team ensures that any support provided is appropriate, culturally sensitive, and delivered in a fair and dignified manner.

This approach safeguards the child while allowing you to share kindness and celebrate meaningful moments.

To protect the safety, privacy, and well-being of the children in our programme, visits to a child’s home or direct in-person meetings cannot be arranged. Safeguarding protocols require that personal details, including addresses, remain confidential.

Where possible, we may facilitate supervised video calls or virtual interactions through our local teams. These are arranged on a case-by-case basis and depend on factors such as safeguarding considerations, time zone differences, and internet connectivity.

This approach helps ensure children remain protected while allowing sponsors to feel connected and engaged.

We are committed to keeping sponsors informed about their sponsored child’s development and well-being. You will receive regular updates, including:

  • An annual progress report
  • A school report card (where available)
  • A recent photograph of the child
  • A drawing or letter from the child
  • Occasionally, a short video message

If any of these updates are unavailable, our Child Sponsorship Programme (CSP) team will contact you to keep you informed.

Once your first payment confirms your sponsorship, we will coordinate with our local teams to gather the necessary details about your sponsored child.

Within approximately two weeks, you can expect to receive introductory information such as the child’s first name, age, country, and school details.

Within one month, we will provide a more comprehensive profile, including a recent photograph and information about the child’s background and needs.

To protect the child’s privacy and safety, personal identifying details such as home addresses are not shared.

Yes. You may choose to donate to the Child Sponsorship Programme (CSP) general fund. These pooled funds help sponsor additional children and ensure continuity of support for children whose sponsorship may be interrupted.

This approach allows us to respond to urgent needs and ensure that no child is left without support.

Yes. You are welcome to contribute more than the monthly sponsorship amount if you wish.

Many sponsors choose to provide additional support during special occasions, such as Eid, to help bring extra comfort and joy to the child and their family. Any additional contributions are managed by us to ensure they are used appropriately and delivered with dignity.

No. There is no fixed minimum commitment for child sponsorship.

However, we encourage sponsors to commit for at least one year where possible. A year of consistent support helps provide stability, supports the child’s education, and gives the family greater opportunity to plan for the future.

Yes. Our Child Sponsorship Programme (CSP) team is here to help and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

You can contact us by email at [email protected], and a member of our team will respond as soon as possible.
