Light a Child’s Path This Ramadan

Your sponsorship helps children grow with stability and thrive with hope, joy, and opportunity.

With support from donors like you, HCI sponsored over 5,800 children and supported more than 15,000 family members in 2025.

Your generosity provided Eid clothes and toys, along with monthly in-kind assistance including food, clothing, hygiene kits, and nutritional supplements, helping ease daily pressures for children and their families. The program also reached 15,000 monthly indirect beneficiaries (siblings and family members), amplifying the impact of every gift.

Gaza Emergency Support

Last Ramadan, in Gaza alone, 1,000 orphaned children and 2,577 family members received critical support, alongside psychosocial activities designed to support well-being, connection, and resilience.

Why Sponsor a Child This Ramadan

Ramadan is a time when we pause, reflect, and open our hearts to those who need us most. While many of us break our fasts with family, millions of children continue to face uncertainty around safety, care, and stability. Sponsoring a child this Ramadan is a simple way to turn your compassion into ongoing support that lasts beyond the month.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ reminded us of the special place held by those who care for vulnerable children.

He said:I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” and he ﷺ held his index and middle fingers together.
(Sahih al-Bukhari)

When you sponsor a child, you’re committing to consistent care and support month after month. You’re helping put food on the table, supporting their well-being, and reminding them that they are not forgotten.

Why Child Sponsorship Matters

  • Provides consistent, monthly support tailored to children’s needs
  • Helps families meet essential living requirements
  • Supports emotional well-being through community and psychosocial care
  • Contributes to long-term stability for children and their  households

Show Your Concern. This Ramadan, help ensure a child feels supported every day, not just for a moment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

HCI’s Child Sponsorship Programme (CSP) is committed to uplifting the lives of orphans and children in distress. We acknowledge the harsh reality that millions of children globally are deprived of education, subjected to child labor, trafficking, and abuse, and find themselves exploited as a result of poverty and inequality. Through our CSP, we guarantee that children are able to access education of the highest quality, reside in homes that are safe and secure and are presented with ample opportunities to pursue and fulfil their dreams.

We collaborate closely with our local teams on the ground to pinpoint the children who are in dire need of assistance. Our selection is based on the following criteria:

  1. The child should be of school-going age.
  2. The child must come from a low-income household.
  3. The child should be enrolled in school, except if they have a disability that prevents them from attending.
  4. The child must not be receiving support from any other non-governmental organization.
  5. A preference is given to female children.

We prioritise orphaned children who find themselves living on the streets or in slums, are involved in child labour, and are more susceptible to exploitation, trafficking, and domestic violence.

Yes, our Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) falls within the eight permissible categories and, therefore, is eligible to receive Zakat funds.

HCI is dedicated to providing sponsors with the following reports on an annual basis to keep them informed about their sponsored child’s development:

  1. Annual report of the child (click here for an example report).
  2. School report card of the child.
  3. Recent photo of the child.
  4. Drawing or letter from the child addressed to you.
  5. A video of the child expressing their gratitude.

Our CSP team will be in communication with you in the event that any of these reports are not available for any reason.

Upon your initial payment confirming your sponsorship, HCI will coordinate with our field team to gather the necessary details about your sponsored child. Within two weeks, you can expect to receive basic information including the child’s name, date of birth, country, and school address. Following this, within a month’s time, we will provide you with a comprehensive profile of the child, complete with their photograph and a breakdown of their financial situation.

Indeed, you have the option to donate to the Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) in general, thereby contributing to a pool of funds. These general funds are then utilized to sponsor additional children, as well as to maintain the sponsorship of children whose donors may have discontinued their donations.

Indeed, you are welcome to donate more than the mandated monthly amount. It is common for donors to extend additional monetary gifts to children, particularly during Eid celebrations.

While HCI recommends donors to commit to at least one year of sponsorship, there is no strict minimum requirement. Committing to a year ensures the child in question receives education for that duration, potentially allowing their family to save enough resources for the child’s education in the following year.

Our Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) has a dedicated team ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you might have. You can reach out to them by sending an email to [email protected]
