Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, fasting, and devotion to Allah (SWT). However, for those who are unable to fast due to illness, pregnancy, travel, or other legitimate reasons, there are ways to fulfil your religious obligations. Fidya and Kaffara are acts of charity that ensure you still gain reward while supporting those in need.
Fidya is the compensation given when you are unable to fast during Ramadan due to a valid reason, such as illness, pregnancy, or old age. It is an act of charity that involves feeding a poor person for each day that you are unable to fast. The amount is usually equivalent to the cost of two meals per day.
This Ramadan, if you are unable to fast, consider paying Fidya as a way to fulfil your religious duty while helping those who are less fortunate. By giving Fidya, you provide nourishment to those in need, while ensuring that you can still receive the blessings of this holy month.
This Ramadan, as you reflect on your blessings, remember the importance of supporting those in need. Whether you are paying Fidya for days missed due to illness or paying Kaffara for an intentional mistake, your donation will go directly to those in need.
By contributing to Fidya and Kaffara through Human Concern UK, you ensure that your actions during Ramadan remain aligned with the teachings of Islam. Not only will you fulfil your obligations, but you will also be helping vulnerable communities who need food, shelter, and support to thrive.
Your donation will make a real difference to the lives of those in need, ensuring that your Ramadan is full of rewards and blessings.
While a donor may choose a water well in Asia or Africa, we cannot guarantee that we can fulfill requests for a specific country in two continents as we build wells where most needed. A donor may share their preference with us along with their receipt via email at [email protected] and we will try our best to fulfill their request; however, we cannot guarantee that they will be accommodated.
Human Concern UK currently has water well projects in Kenya, Somalia, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.
Yes, you may add an inscription of up to 25 characters to your water well. Please share your donation receipt along with your inscription with us via email at [email protected]
It takes between 6 to 8 months for well construction to be completed. This timeline excludes the pre- and post-construction phases, which should be noted. Please also note that unforeseen situations such as weather conditions, political unrest, and travel restrictions in the countries where we work can impact this timeline and may result in further delays.
Yes, donors will receive photos of their completed wells and in some cases videos and construction photos of wells while they are in progress.
Shallow water wells with hand pumps, which are most of the Human Concern UK’s water wells, have a lifespan of about 8-15 years.
